FAQ

Asphalt Shingle Roofing questions, answered

Don't see your question? Call (732) 644-4099 and ask a real person.

How long does an asphalt shingle roof last?

Modern architectural shingles are generally rated for decades of service when installed correctly and properly ventilated. Coastal wind and sun are harder on a roof than inland conditions, which is why we spec every component for the Shore.

What is the difference between 3-tab and architectural shingles?

3-tab shingles are flat, single-layer shingles. Architectural (dimensional) shingles are thicker, laminated shingles with a higher wind rating, a longer service life and a more textured appearance. We recommend architectural shingles for nearly every replacement.

Can you install new shingles over my old roof?

We do not layer over existing roofing. A full tear-off lets us inspect and repair the deck, install fresh underlayment and flashing, and give you a roof that performs the way it should.

Will a new shingle roof handle nor'easters and coastal wind?

Yes. We use high-wind rated architectural shingles with the manufacturer's enhanced nailing pattern, plus properly sealed starter and hip and ridge courses, to keep your roof tight in strong coastal weather.

Do you handle permits and cleanup?

Yes. We pull the necessary permits, protect your property during the job, haul away all debris and do a final nail sweep before we leave.
